becca + kyle

Wedding days are monumentally important for families, and it's one of our greatest honors to capture two people choosing to make one another their family. Becca and Kyle’s autumn wedding day seemed to be as much about the beauty of their families coming together as it did about the couple’s own union. Having been together, on and off, since middle school, Becca, Kyle, and their families have had quite a bit of time to get to know one another and their “tight knittedness” was warmly palpable being around them.

Sadly, the groom’s father was battling cancer at the time of the wedding and though the emotional weight of that circumstance was sometimes apparent, Becca and Kyle’s wedding day never felt downtrodden or defeated. Their day was marked by celebration and truly spoke to the strength of love that's found in family. They laughed together, cried together, and ended their wedding day celebrations with a family dance that left no dry eye in the room.

Several weeks after their wedding I received this message from Kyle, "I can’t tell you how much it meant to get those pictures and have the ability to remember the day with him before he passed away. It was one of his greatest memories and he talked about that day for weeks on end afterwards. So thank you very much for the extra work you did to get us those pictures early, my whole family appreciated it! Thank you again for making everyone feel so comfortable at the wedding and capturing the many great moments throughout the day. Becca and I couldn’t have been happier with our experience with you!"

Usually our work as wedding photographers is to tell the happy love story of the bride and groom. It's all about gorgeous florals, teary-eyed toasts at a candlelit table, and a romantic first dance to a slow tune. Sometimes, though, there's a deeper story woven into the day. It's those moments that we're deeply honored to tell of. Wedding days like theirs define why we love to do this work as photographers, and serve as a beautiful testimony to the power of a photograph. Becca and Kyle's wedding day was one that will never leave us, and we're so grateful we got to be the ones to tell their story.
