The Kruse Family

If we had a quarter for every time we’ve said the phrase “I never thought I’d see the day when…” throughout the past few months, we’d never have to search for our Aldi quarter ever again (where are our fellow Aldi shoppers?!). We truly never thought we’d see the day when we’d be offering virtual in-home sessions over FaceTime. And yet, here we are!

We introduced these “FaceTime Sessions” last weekend, and we’ve been so overjoyed at your enthusiastic response! It’s always fun and such an honor to be invited into your homes and to hear your stories, but especially so in this difficult season we’re all in. As wild as it seems, a portrait session done over FaceTime does actually work and we’re so excited to creatively connect with our clients and friends in this way. Our intention with these sessions is to create a little time capsule of the beauty and goodness that still exists in this season.

You likely won’t ever forget this “socially distanced” chapter of 2020 and the many, many uncertainties and challenges that it introduced to our world. It is, however, a very human thing to let the bad overshadow everything and to forget the good. To forget how small your babies once were in your arms, or the way your living room was rearranged to accommodate your WFH desk situation, or that new hobby you picked up just so you had something to pass the time, or how sincerely happy you were just to have more time at home together. If you’re anything like me, after a while those things can start to get a little blurry. I don’t ever want you to forget, and a photo—even a unique lo-fi one taken over FaceTime—can serve as the sweetest reminder and ground us in thankfulness.

We as small business owners have learned once again how overwhelmingly grateful we are to have the support of our families, our friends, and our clients. You truly are the reason why we love what we do. Without you, we’re just over here taking photos of Hemingway, and we all know how much he loves that. ;) If this time of “sheltering in place” has given us anything good, its perspective. We’ve all learned in a whole new way that the small things are actually the biggest things. What we so readily take for granted—our health, homes, families, food, neighbors— actually do make all the difference.

Until we can all safely be together again, we’re so glad to have these virtual in-home sessions to help us stay connected. We’re so grateful to the Kruse family for inviting us into their home to capture some everyday life; books, dandelions, wooden trains, play kitchens, and cuddles. What a sweet reminder of their time at home together!

If you’re interested in booking a FaceTime Session with us, we linked our calendar with session availability HERE for you. We hope to see you soon! Be well, friends!
